Pasodoble

For me, the metal instruments combined with wood instruments, create a particular sound that is so characteristic in pasodoble. When the sound waves of pasodoble emerge, they can grab the attention of any type of audience because of the imposing, sober and sensual movements that predominate in this genre. Furthermore, it is thrilling to listen to the changing of mode that can be found in most of the pasodobles going from mystery to joy and hapiness.

In music, the official or common language is Italian, in ballet we can find French to be used frequently. Danseurs, ballerinos or ballet male dancers always take the applause of the audience, because of their technique, posture, and artistic costume. Spain since the beginning of ballet, opera and theater has been a reference for writers, music composers and choreographers. Today, all this can be seen in famous plays such as the nutcraker, swan lake, carmen opera, the barber of Seville or Don Quijote.

  • España Cañi: A pasodoble written by Pascual Marquina Narro a Spanish composer born in 1873, this song was successfully released in New York by the argentine flamenco dancer and singer: “La Argentinita”. The melody or main musical motive of this piece is recognized around the world. The word “Cañi” is a Gypsy word. I tried to make the song sound more fluid and imposing, I added some extra notes on the counterpoint to the original arrangement, everything without changing the author essence.

I hope you enjoy my pasodobles.
